£2,000 in Debt: This is my Turning Point

£2,000 in debt, this is my turning point.

,As I write this on the 9th June 2025, I am over £2000 in debt.

I’m unemployed, have no real career prospects, no savings, and I rent a single room in a shared house.

I think it’s safe to say that my life is going absolutely nowhere at the moment.

I currently claim Universal Credit, and that’s barely enough to survive on.

Due to my autism and ADHD, I’ve always struggled to hold down a job for a considerable length of time. I think my longest job lasted 2 years and 11 months, most of the others didn’t even make it past six months.

I’ve always found it difficult to focus for prolonged periods, which has deeply affected my education (I’ve dropped out of college three times).

I’ve consistently struggled to stick to things, and this includes sticking to a budget and keeping my finances organised.

Both my autism and ADHD have caused me to struggle with establishing a steady routine, remain focused and keep myself motivated.

But anyway, I’m going slightly off topic.

So Why am I Writing This?

Honestly, I need a starting point.

I’m tired of life passing me by. I need to turn things around, and maybe tracking my financial journey publicly like this will give me some kind of accountability. Something that forces me to stick with it and keep going, no matter how overwhelmed I get.

I need something I can look back on in a few years and say, “This is where it all started.”

I don’t expect this to be a smooth process or a quick fix, but I’m going to try, I need to prove to myself that I can do this!

Why Should You Care About This?

Maybe you’re in the same boat as me, out of work, drowning in debt, struggling to keep your head above water.

Or perhaps you’ve been here before, and you remember what it felt like to hit that reset button.

Whatever the reason, and whether you can relate or not, you’re welcome here.

I’m not an expert. I’m just trying to get through life and learn what I can along the way.

I’ll be posting updates as regularly and as transparently as I can, documenting my progress, hopefully finding a job, getting out of debt, learning along the way, and being honest about my successes and failures.

If that’s something you want to see more of, then please bookmark the website.

Thanks for reading, and if you’re starting from zero as well… we’ve got this.
